In 2006 Bank of Africa, did partner with very low income Schools to raise Bio-diversity as well as environmental safety in Kibera slums, Mathare slums in Nairobi and Moi International Airport in Mombasa
Today, We have 95% survival rate in Marura Primary and 60% in Olympic Primary as well as 90% in Moi International Airport. The potential is there to increase the numbers as we nurture these young seedlings to maturity.

ACTION. |
| |
To nurture the already growing seedlings against pests. We need to use natural methods to repel the pests as opposed to killing them since it will contract our Bio-diversity activity. We will use the snuff, to be sprinkled around the young plants and other natural insects repellants.
-Replacement of the trees that did not survive due to insects attack.
-Digging of holes, supply of manure, red soil and transportation.
-Sourcing of the required seedlings from Total Eco Challenge community nurseries.
-Bank of Africa staff shall visit these sites for familiarization and inter face contact with the children and the seedlings as well as photo taking.

TYPES OF TREES. |
| |
Due to flooding in most parts of the country, we need to focus on infiltration of rain-water by planting appropriate indigenous trees whose roots tend to go down wards into the ground. Also species for conservation and education due to their unique health and cultural properties will be planted.

MATHARE AND KIBERA SLUMS SCHOOLS. |
| |
Markhamia lutea, Syzygium guineese, Persea Americana, Olea Africana, Muna tree, Vitex keniensis, Cordia Africana, Cal; dend rum capense etc.
|
| |
MOI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. |
| |
Our focus is that for safety reasons of people and Air craft, it is important to plant trees that do not attract birds. Travellers palm, Golden palm, Christmas palm, Afzelia etc will be planted. Also the Araucaria tree is great and can only be found in Nairobi Eco Challenge nurseries. Please note that due to flooding in Mombasa we need over two meter tall trees that have been nurtured in the nursery for over four years to get to that size.
